Newport News – October 2011 – DMG Federal, an Information Technology
(IT) consulting firm specializing in developing business intelligence and
performance optimization solutions for Federal government agencies, is proud to
announce that the company was accepted to participate in a Federally sanctioned
environmental case study. The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA)
launched the GreenGov Supply Chain Partnership in November 2010 to promote
clean energy and reduce waste and pollution in the Federal supply chain. Greenhouse
Gas (GHG) emissions , which are any of the atmospheric gases that negatively contribute
to the greenhouse effect including carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide, serve
as the measurement for this study. The partnership includes a Small Business
Pilot Program that will explore the benefits and challenges of measuring GHG emissions.
The GreenGov Supply Chain Partnership and Small Business
Pilot Program were developed by GSA in response to President Obama’s Executive
Order 13514, which called on GSA to lead the effort to make recommendations for
measuring and reducing GHG in the Federal supply chain. This partnership and
pilot represent an important collaboration with large and small businesses to
move forward together with the Government toward a clean energy economy.
DMG Federal volunteered to participate in this GHG emissions
Pilot, and through a one-year process, the company tracked, recorded, and
submitted the data necessary to gain acceptance into the program. This initial data
is recognized as DMG Federal’s base year and each following year will be
analyzed for progress in the pilot program. The pilot program requires each
company to pledge a commitment to decrease its overall GHG emissions by 2%
every year succeeding the base year. DMG Federal has committed to this goal and
plans to achieve it through a variety of environmental awareness methods and
practices. These methods and practices include energy and coolant conservation,
carpooling, and minimizing the amount of natural gas the company consumes
within a given period.
